Dr. Jan Wares, PhD, LPC, NCC

Licensed Professional Counselor
Health Psychologist

I am a licensed professional counselor with a background in psychology and clinical mental health counseling. I earned my B.A. degree and M.A. degree from Argosy University and completed my doctorate at Northcentral University, specializing in health psychology.

My professional journey includes valuable experience in crisis intervention and addressing suicidal ideation through my involvement with a crisis and suicide hotline. Additionally, I have facilitated ten-week aftercare programs for adolescents dealing with suicidal ideation and struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. I am well-versed in working with families dealing with issues such as divorce, teen pregnancy, and blended family dynamics.

My passion lies in assisting families in finding solutions to their challenges and fostering a cohesive bond within the family unit. I employ a therapeutic approach that integrates family therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy. This methodology aims to enhance individuals' understanding of healthy communication and functioning within the family.

Specializing in health psychology, my focus extends beyond the physical aspect to encompass the holistic well-being of individuals. I acknowledge the interconnectedness of the physical, mental, psychological, social, and spiritual domains. In my counseling approach, I emphasize addressing the wholeness of a person—body, mind, and spirit.
